Soul Catching

These days i'm not sure
What it means to lure
A soul into my hands

It seems hard
because you're always far
Though you've been right in walking distance

The universe plays games
and makes it seem like I need you
but really, do you feel the need too?

I've remembered every last talk and touch
remembered every last feeling of ecstasy
remembered every last consideration
everything that you've said or done to me

And your tears in my mind
So distinct and so ashamed
They were beautiful

And the embrace that was so real
that reality ceased to be true
I wish you'd follow through

A whole life flashed before my eyes
in my dreams
another time

I kept coming back
because in reality
you were just an ugly soul

Lost time
Wasted time
Just to see you in my mind

In the long run
Fate is to blame
for everything that came out wrong

If only you heard me tell our story
You'd find it particularly crazy
that someone found the little things so large

And the large things so little
and those people who were so brittle
Never gave a moment of breathing space

To catch your soul would be impossible
so I paint my soul and hope that you've snuck a peak
